While Honduras suffers from many problems, Osman Hope
centers on the plight of the children in Honduras. Forty percent of children
under the age of 5 suffers from chronic malnutrition and 40 of every 1,000
children under age 5 die each year because of inadequate health care.
Although education is free, universal and compulsory, the Government estimated that as many of 65,000 children ages 6 through 12 fail to receive schooling of any kind each year due to insufficient financial resources or because parents rely on their children to assist in supporting the family by working.
There are approximately 10,000 street children, only half of whom have shelter on any given day. The number has substantially increased since Hurricane Mitch in 1998. Through our Sponsor a Child program, $52 per month or $624 a year, your
sponsorship will provide a child nutritious meals, spiritual and educational
guidance, and most importantly, a safe environment all day, every day.

When you Sponsor a Child, you will receive a photo, brief background, and update on the child at least twice a year. Sponsors are encouraged to send letters, cards, and photos to the children.
